Dungeons and Dragons Board Game

Apparently Wizards of the Coast is changing pace from just dungeon tilesets and premade character sheets.
Wizards has released a full on board game entitled Wrath of Ashardalon, and the box set contains
  • 42 plastic heroes and monsters
  • 13 sheets of interlocking cardstock dungeon tiles
  • 200 encounter cards and treasure cards
  • Rulebook
  • Scenario book
  • 20-sided die
The game can be found at your local Wizards retailer, and a store locator can be found on their website. It even has a pretty spiffy box

  1. Never really got into Dungeons and Dragons - Understood the system even less in games like Neverwinter Nights and Baldurs Gate (which probably didn't even use the formulas)

Still - Will be following to see if I can learn something new :)

  2. This looks pretty cool actually. Never got into D&D because it seems way too daunting, but I like board games and this may be an easier way to get into things.

  4. Damn, looks pretty nice.

I got myself 4th edition a few months back. Never played in though, it's too hard to get in without any experienced players.

  5. I played a PnP very related to D&D a few years ago, but the DM took all the calculations on him, so i never had to wrestle with the rulebooks. But this looks interesting, maybe i'll give it a try.

  7. The only thing about board games is the need for friends.
